Reduced protection due to fibre break in Manchester - Issue resolved

Fri, Apr 25th 2014, 11:54

We are currently operating at a reduced level of protection on our Manchester Data Centre rings. This is due to a fibre break on a path between two Data Centres and our engineers are liaising with the fibre provider.
There should be no customer impact during this issue and all services are fully operational via additional resilient fibre paths.
Further updates will be provided throughout the issue.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us via email to ticket@metronet-uk.com, or by phone to 01618222580.

We have been advised that the expected time of resolution is 4am. Fibre teams have arrived on site and have begun work, however due to the nature of the fibre break the work will take longer than usual.
No further updates will be posted unless further information is received, or the work has been completed.

We have been advised the a fibre repair team has been dispatched on it en-route to the site of the break. The current ETR is 12 hours from now, however this is subject to change from arrival on site. The affected fibre path is a 216 core fibre between Telecity Williams House and Telecity Reynolds House.
All services to Telecity Reynolds House remain fully operational via additional resilient fibre paths to Telecity Kilburn and Synergy House.

We have been advised that there is a 10 metre fibre break. Our fibre provider are liaising with their fibre engineering teams to arrange the repair of the fibre. There is currently no ETR (Estimated Time to Repair).
All services remain operational via additional resilient paths.
Further updates will follow as they become available.
